Message from the Director

The Department of Foreign Languages (FOR) at Bilkent University is committed to equipping students with the language skills necessary for academic excellence and professional success in the increasingly globalized world.

We offer a range of programs tailored to support students throughout their university journey:

• The English Language Preparatory Program ensures that students reach the required level of English proficiency for entry into their chosen academic departments, laying a strong foundation for their studies.
• The Academic English Program (ENG) provides credit-bearing courses starting in the freshman year, helping students develop their English proficiency, critical thinking, and independent learning skills essential for academic and professional growth.
• The Second Foreign Language Program offers students the opportunity to learn an additional language, broadening their cultural and linguistic horizons and enhancing their global competencies.

We believe that language learning is a key component of whole-person education. Whether improving academic English, mastering foundational English skills, or exploring a new foreign language, our programs are designed to support students every step of the way.
